The Parliament

Dominating Nejmeh Square is Parliament building, an important symbol of national life. It is complemented by the clock tower at the center of the landscaped square. Both Parliament and the clock tower date back to 1934. Restoration and modernization of the interior has revived this landmark building, which combines 'Beaux-Arts' with an Oriental revivalist style, articulating historical regional references around a strong symmetrical and monumental composition. To complement Parliament, a modern building was built nearby in the 1990s to provide facilities for deputies.
