Exhibitions are regularly organized in the city center. Their origin is local, regional or international. Subjects span painting and sculpture, manuscripts and archives, photography and design, history and culture, urban planning and architecture, awareness campaigns, scientific and technical themes, industrial and commercial promotional displays. Venues range from specialized art galleries to historic buildings, cultural institutes, media headquarters, dedicated exhibition centers, or open spaces. Local, regional and international conferences are held in UN House and in the Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center (BIEL). Concerts, theatre and dance can be attended in churches and other historic buildings, as well as in BIEL, in the Roman Baths or in streets and open spaces.
